Soulfully anointed, insightful and delightful. Jazz on the rocks with a twist of Funk. This is the sound of experience. Bernard Hampton brings this experience to your ear like a motion picture.
A jazz fusion guitarist by trade, Bernard Hampton has been consistently chopping the axe since 1969. Born in Fluker, LA, this artist was bred through tradition. Getting his start in his father’s gospel quartet, Mr. Hampton is no stranger to live play. His ear for rhythm is both highly trained and uncensored. Under the tutelage of famed jazzist Alvin Batiste, this artist began developing a sense for manipulating chords that could speak to the deaf.
Bernard Hampton’s style is influenced by legends such as George Benson, B.B. King, Jeff Beck and Quincy Jones to name a few. Drawing his inspiration from the love of music, the melodies wailed from his pick sends one on a quest to find out why one track could blow your mind, while others may waste your time. Bred in the birthplace of Jazz, New Orleans, LA, Mr. Hampton’s sound is reminiscent of a busy rue on a sunny French Quarter day. Full of joy and relaxation, a journey through his album is like a ride on an emotional rollercoaster with a change of mood through every twist and turn.
A resident of Atlanta, GA since 1987, Bernard Hampton has jammed and vibed with musicians from all walks of life, and for the past eleven years you can find him at the New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church on Sunday making a joyful noise for the Lord. To him, music is good medicine for the Soul.
